I will shortly be putting a short piece of waste pipe in the ceiling from my bedroom cupboard up into the loft but I'm just wondering the best way to hold it in place, could I just use a bead no nails or something round the pipe either side of the plaster board?

won't it be held in place by whatever pipes it's connected to?

Knew I shouldn't have posted in a hurry whilst being harassed by my baby boy! It's not going to connect to anything, it's just to make it nice and simple to run cables down from the loft into the room! Lol. Should have mentioned that really!

Pipe clip?

PVC pipe is normally fixed with the appropriate U shaped wall brackets, have a look in your local DIY shed, they will be in the same section

I did thank about those but it's going between the chimney and a joist but there's no room to get to the joist as it's only a small gap.

If pipe comes between two joists, just screw a piece of wood across them to fit pipe clip

That might be doable or something similar....
