Hi all,

The sill caps have been missing from inside my conservatory since we moved in (Dec 2020), and I've only just got round to replacing them. I've got some caps that fit, but as you can see from the photo below, they've tried 2 different glues in the past and they've failed. The conservatory gets really hot, and the residual glue feels tacky, so it needs to be something that will bond pvc + wood, and be resistant to heat. Open to all suggestions. I'd prefer mechanical fixings, but I think they'd all look naff.

Cheers.

Looks like they've used double sided tape to bodge it back on top of the original grab adhesive. Remove that, and then anything relatively suitable for bonding plastic should be fine onto the original adhesive.

I'd give the original adhesive a bit of a sand to flatten it a bit first and give a good key.

Actually, no I wouldn't do that. I'd want a good consistent bead around the outer lip - so I'd be sanding the grip adhesive back and then applying new grip adhesive around the outer edge - then wiping away any excess as you press it on.

I'm sure the £3.50 version from B&Q would do a perfectly adequate job. The quality of application would be more important than the product in terms of durability.
