Hi

since upgrading my mobo and router, have noticed that the ethernet link between my computer and router (Billion 7800N 1G-1G) is very temperamental.

The LAN connection is not always there when I switch on, as with previous set-up and the connection keeps dropping at intermittent times when in use.

Anyone any ideas as to what is going on?

Tried a different ethernet cable? Could be that if you had the same problems with the old motherboard and old router.

Driver problems, Ethernet cable not secure (inside the cable itself) overall the router may not be functioning well with the port on the mobo.

When you switch on, do you also switch on the router at the same time? Only reason I ask is, as you´re using an SSD, the PC will boot faster than the router. So, you will have to wait for the modem to assign the router an IP from the ISP (only know because I get the same when I first power up everything).

As far as it dropping out, Id reinstall drivers and see how that is. Also, can you get your hands on another cable to try?

Router is perma-on.

Have ordered myself a Cat 6 cable and gonna try that. Have noticed that the port negotiates itself down to 100, so am more suspecting a cable issue now.
