Flash bios while still in crossfire?

Pretty simple really.....I have a ref XFX 7970 which I flashed to ghz bios.I now want to flash my gigabyte windfore to same bios but is this ok while the 2 cards are connected in crossfire?

It depends how you do it. If you have a command line utility there is usually a parameter that can specify which card to flash. 0 is primary, 1 is secondary.

If your flashing within windows, no, you need to disable CrossFire within CCC.

I would still manually disconnect the CrossFire bridge too, but that's just me.

I wouldn't flash your WF with a stock GHz bios, you might even brick one of your bios and be left with one working bios.

Go and speak to borley, he knows all about the different Gigabyte GHz bios you need.



Does your XFX have the bios switch?

Yeah my xfx has the bios switch.Dont think I will bother then.

Its a good job I didnt flash it actually! It seems the bios switch was already set to bios 2.Drivers and everything were installed ok but if I flick it to 1 then the drivers wont install.Sorry,they do install but when it reboots theres no trace of them.Dont know what to do as I returned a DOA HIS ice q last week and I have just recieved this today.It does work but only one bios??? Also 12.11 beta work fine but if I try 13.1 whql then I get the same problem as if I were installing on the faulty bios.

Well,ive managed to get 13.1 drivers on there and its all good.To be honest I cant be bothered to send it back I guess I will manage with the one bios,I mean,one bios was enough for years so its not that important really.Defo wont be flashing it now though
