I absolutely fail at car washing so about a year ago I purchased a flash car washing system with it's rather handy de-ionised water drying feature which is great and doesn't leave any of those nasty water marks.

Everywhere seems to have stopped selling the shampoo refills and autodry filters. The filters seem to be widely available on ebay still but the only shampoo thats on there would end up setting me back nearly ₤20...

Does anyone have one of these and know any shops that still stock the refills? Or does anyone know of any other alternatives?

ive got about 6+ autodry filters email me if your interested

I've got plenty of the autodry filters thanks, it's just the shampoo which seems to be hard to get hold of at a reasonable price :(

Poundstrecher / Instore round here (Leicester) are still selling them.
Ahh thanks, I might try and find a poundstrecher near me.

From experience I found the flash system to be less than perfect. I still find that using a good drying towel is necessary to ensure no marks remain. But maybe that's because we live in quite a bad area for hard water.

EDIT: I don't use the Flash "system", but I do use the filtered water as a final stage after rinsing. But as I said, I still use a drying towel.

What part of washing do you 'fail' at, out of interest?

Drying... The beauty of the flash car wash is that to ensure there aren't any water marks left on the paint I simply spray on some of this de-ionised water. Job done. I've found it to be much easier than using a chamois leather or terry towel.

Raider: How do you filter the water? Have you got something similar to the flash system?

Just got back from the nearest Poundstrecher empty handed :(

The ones round here have started drying up too... not helped by people like me buying up 10 filters and 5 bottles of soap at a time :o Haven't seen any this year infact.

For me its worth its weight in gold. We have VERY hard water and especially on warmer days you just can't dry the car quick enough to avoid water marks. Infact the water is so bad that I tend to get 3 or if I'm very lucky 4 washes from a filter rather than the stated 10.

I've tried using just the filters without the Flash soap and the water just beads rather than sheeting off like its supposed to.

EDIT- Just thought. Do you have a "Savers" chemist near you? They sometimes knock out filters and soap for £99p and £1.99

You seem to be in a similar situation to me, I never manage 10 uses either, more like 3 =/

I also find that using the filter on it's own doesn't work as well.

I think I do have a savers fairly close, it would be one of the last places I would have thought to go looking in though... I shall have a look when i'm next in town :)

Yeah don't make a special trip because its just one of those things they knock out as a clearance line occasionally.
