I'm looking to get a diffuser for my Yongnuo yn-460 but I dont know what one will fit it. I've done a quick google and the only results that came up were from UK online shops registered by chinese businesses which I'm not inclined to use.

Are there any alternative snap on diffusers which will fit the flash unit?

There's loads on ebay that'll fit the YN, they will more than likely be from Chinese stores, but hey, that's where the YN is produced! :p

There should be a good few that are based in the UK though that should cost around £4-5 delivered.

Does this info help?... http://forums.steves-digicams.com/1109780-post32.html

Seems from that they could be the same size as the Nikon SB-800

EDIT - found this quote about the YN460 following one of the links on the above page ( http://speedlights.net/2010/03/16/yongnuo-460-yn460-v1-for-strobist-use/ )...

Yongnuo YN460 Off-Camera Flash
For photographers on a budget, Yongnuo’s 460 model is a great choice. It offers everything that you need for manual operation in a package of acceptable (some say ‘very good’) quality at a bargain price, and it’s available new from eBay for around 40 USD. In addition, it’s rather small size, almost exactly the same as the SB-600 from Nikon.

EDIT 2 - another quote from one of those links, this time for the YN460-II ( http://speedlights.net/2010/12/10/yongnuo-yn460-ii-review-conclusion/ )...

Positives
•very low cost (around $55 new)
•powerful with GN 34 (test result; YN460 only has GN 28 in tests)
•short recycle times
•very easy to use (apart from partial output setting)
•covers the basic requirements for off-camera flash with 6 stop manual range (1/1 to 1/64)
standard size flash head (same as Nikon SB-800)
•complete standard accessories (bag, stand, diffuser)
•partial output levels available

You're welcome. Might be an idea to nip into a local photography store if you have one and see if they will let you test fit it, but would certainly seem that it's the same size.

had a look on the bay for a diffuser and seen a 'superset' of diffusers of the SB600 consisting of....

*
White diffuser is useful to soften the images and overall diffused effect in photos.
*
Green colour diffuser is useful to enhance flourecent light increasing colours.
*
Gold color diffuser is ideal to warm up skin tones.
*
Portrait diffuser is ideal to capture some excellent portrait shots especially in outdoor photography

has anyone used either a green or gold diffuser and what effects did they get with them?

I'd be tempted to go with the standard stofen type diffuser and a good selection of gels to combat different lighting types you may be shooting in as it will give more flexibility. The gels will be better not only due to the range of strengths within the colours (assuming you get a good selection) but when wanting to use bounce flash along with the colour correction and not wanting or needing that to be diffused. I've found for instance that some bulbs will give off more of an orange tinge than others so having a selection of different stengths of orange gels can be of great benefit rather than being tied to the one tone. There's also a host of other more creative ways of using the gels that a coloured diffuser wouldn't give. One diffuser and the gels will take up much less space and be more flexible.
