Seeing as nights are now dark and indoors in general isn't like being outside my next purchase should be a flash

I find myself hardly ever using my inbuilt flash. Too restricted for macro stuff and no ability to bounce the light.
Also non canon flashes aren't to expensive

Was looking at the yongnuo stuff.
Doesn't seem lacking just much cheaper

I'll have a lot to learn with this but winter seems a good time to start!

I think you are looking at it wrong. Winter does not mean more flash. The same principles still applies. It depends what photos you are trying to take, if you are outside doing landscapes, the flash isn't going to do you much good, no matter how big it is.

I mean that now in the evening when I get home there is no light available to go outside and do anything (unfortunately the sky is too light polluted for any creative astro stuff)
So I'd like to try some new flash photography techniques in general

Yep I need to actually learn what ttl is. I haven't bothered to learn without having the unit

Phal.. How much and where from?

Well I guess they will be 200 usd vs 700!
I'm a tad wary of buying off 3rd party eBay

Seems like prices of upwards of 600 are now being charged!
I only seen one eBay shop with that sub 200usd price
Might bite

Yeah I always planned to learn flash stuff this winter
