flash Knoppix crashed ... need to recover files

So my flash installed Knoppix crashed and won't boot anymore. I was loading a 100 MB mp3 file into Audacity. It froze. I managed to initiate a proper shutdown, but it does not boot any more after that.

So now I just want to recover my saved files and hopefully also my Chromium bookmarks from the unencrypted knoppix-data.img file. My understanding is that that contains the persistent file space.

Is it a standard "img" file that can be mounted with any image mounting software? So how do I go about mounting the img file AND where within the persistent directory are the Chromium bookmarks stored?

Did some experimenting. I booted with a CD knoppix with toram option and via root shell typed

mount knoppix-data.img /mnt/

that put the contents in the mnt directory. So I copied my saved files. I'm still not sure where to find Chromium bookmarks in the file structure.

Found an indication that the chromium bookmarks might be in

/home/knoppix/.config/chromium/Default

don't have time right now to test that tho.

Assuming knoppix is the user you log into, then yes. Under ~/.config/chromium you will find all configurations relating to your user area.
