flash player at work- admin rights issues

ahoy. so the lovely people at head office have assigned us some training to do in a flash player, and when we open it we get a message saying flash isn't up to date, please click here to get newest version to open the training. when we do that, we get told we don't have admin rights to do so. the admin department doesn't want to help, not their problem etc, if they unblock it we'll play games.

any way around this?

Theres a simple solution here, if the admin (I guess you mean IT? department) doesn't want to help you go higher to someone who cares. That will then hopefully give them the boot to do it. :)

PS no1 should be playing games during work time, dinner time yes but not during core hours (not at our place anyway) otherwise it could seriously result in disciplinary procedures (if caught).
 
they aren't the brightest people tbh. the training was set by an external department, but still not giving us the tools to actually do it is quite daft. last time they sent us a video to watch but none of our computers have speakers, and the ones from the monitor either don't work or are muted (we can't access the volume control from the toolbar either, it's blocked) so we couldn't hear it. le sigh.
 
You need to record and document these mistakes, because if something really bad happens, the first thing the higher ups are going to do is produce evidence from their side that they have provided you with all the relevant training and that the foul up is your fault.
You can then show that the training provided is not fit for purpose etc etc.

That place sounds like a right barrel of monkeys to be honest.

(Oh, and if a third party application is accessing the internet without issue as this training system clearly is to check for the latest flash, then their IS defences aren't worth a bean, what's the point in stopping stuff coming in if for example an infected USB stick can send all and sundry out?)

Then it's up to the ICT department to get their fingers out and install the upgrade. Not your problem if you can't do the training because of an ICT problem.

Remeber to explain that the training can't go ahead if the tools arn't there ;)
