Flash video - terrible performance in Firefox

This has been a problem for me in Firefox for a long time.

Flash video seems to take up 80-100% CPU in Firefox. Even low quality Youtube videos stall every 10 seconds, like the system can't handle it. It's extremly annoying. HD videos continuously stutter. Google Chrome seems to manage fine.

It doesn't have anything to do with my system spec because I have the same problem on my other laptop. Both machines are only 6 months old.

Anyone having these probs?

Think Xiphrex has hit it on the head mate, it'll be an addon causing it, was when mine did something similar on my laptop, I just stripped them all off and reinstalled. Never did find out which one was knackered!

Yeah I have this same issue in firefox, just doesn't seem to be as smooth as in IE, and takes up way too much cpu usage.

Aye, it really sucks. I love FF but there always seems to be a problem with Abobe Flash. I can put up with it, but I usually find myself using Chrome to play Flash video. Oh well.

Yeah same, find it worse now that more and more HD flash videos are coming around. Even more choppy, and sound being out of sync with video irritates me too much lol!

Chrome's using the exact same plugin, so it would be very unusual if it works any better in Chrome - especially given it's most likely Flash to blame...

You could try completely uninstalling Flash using THIS Adobe utility, and then reinstalling after a reboot. Make sure Firefox is up to date too (3.0.9). It may not work but it's worth a go? Flash works perfectly in Firefox for me, whether SD or 'HD' in YouTube, iPlayer and everywhere else. Worth a try, good luck :)
