I've been trying for hours to get flash to install with vista. I am running the 64bit version but when trying to install flash im using the IE from the x386 directory. When i go the flash player download page it just gets stuck there and doesnt download.

Any ideas?

Had the same problem with my 32bit home premium version - hope this solution works for you!

Grab the uninstaller from [url=http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/[/url]

Reboot into safe mode and run the installer to remove any flash leftovers.

Search for a flash player 9 standalone installer.

Right-click and and select 'run as administrator'

Also, if you have a pc/laptop by the likes of packard bell, dell etc, check for any preinstalled plug-ins first, although the flash uninstaller should get rid of those.

Solved the problem last night with a solution similar to the one you posted above! Thanks for the taking the time to reply.

Please close thread.
