Currently being at the age of 45 means i have lived the gaming revolution from the very beginning.Exactly 20 years ago i couldn't stop myself playing Flashback at my Mega Drive console. The atmosphere, the fluidity of animation, the gameplay, everything was there! The magazines of the era were raving about it, reviews were above 90% and for once there were right!;). A year ago i had another go with my originalConsole and cartridge (yes, i kept them:D)

Now there's a chance to re-live the whole thing. Tommorow, Flashback launches at Steam and i can't wait. I just hope they didn't screw it and the game delivers!
Anyone else excited out there? Is there a review of the (new) game floating around?

Prepare for huge disappointment.

It's been on on XBLA (Xbox 360) for a month or so and i've not seen anything good said about it.

Apparently the animations are now awful, they've added lots of sections where you shoot. You can shoot in 360 degrees now (not like the old game) the voice acting is crappy etc etc.

The 360 demo wasn't terrible, but it wasn't amazing either. Controls felt a bit 'floaty' rather than nice and solid, and the voice acting/dialogue is utterly abysmal.

Weel, there is a demo available. I had trouble d/loading it from Steam, so i used Uplay.
It doesn't look so bad guys! At least, if you can forget the abysmal voice acting and dialogues! Or, maybe , it's the nostalgia speaking...
What do you think of the Demo?

Played through the demo this evening, and yeah, I'm a bit surprised at all the hate this is getting. It's pretty much how I imagined the original would be if remade these days.

Yeah the voices are a bit cheesy (ok, the "awesome sauce" bit is really bad), but don't really bother me that much. The only gripe I really have is that the intro/cutscene videos appear to be 720p, and it creates a bit of a gap fidelity wise between the game and the videos (one of my pet peeves when they can't be bothered to include 1080p video these days).

£8 seems cheap enough to me, and it seems you get the original version playable from the front end as well if you're so inclined.

I with I hadn't sold my A500 and then later thrown my A1200 with GVP accelerator in the skip :(

Flashback, Another World, Prince of Persia. All in the same league so try playing some of the newer Prince of Persia games.
