flashing a vostro 1700 to an inspiron 1720

anyone tried this? you can change service tag and force flash the 1720 bios, because they are identical machines internally.

No, but I have considered swapping my screen bezel, button cover, palm rest and keyboard over from a Vostro. The silver innards on my Inspiron 1520 are a bit lame compared to the Vostro black affair.
