As the title really, is BIOS flashing really worth it? never done it in my life.

what benifits are there from it? i have this board,

Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35

any tips helpers?

the stock bios on that mobo will throw up an error on any G0 chip - update bios, and its all fixed - the ranges for some of the voltages/memory timings ect were also increased when my mate flashed his.

Asus (and most other) boards have a utility that will do it from inside windows (though i allways do it from inside the bios using the ez flash thing)

the shift-F2 thing should work fine :)

or install asus update (should be on your mobo driver cd) and do it with that

just dont have your system any anything other than stock when u do it - allways better safe than sorry wen doing things like this

I flashed my mobo to the latest bios as soon as I got it, didn't mess with any settings and flashed within bios screen.

I did it from a floppy disk, was very easy and self explanatory really (although I'm using a gigabyte board). I thought this way it would be the most reliable method, whereas doing it from within windows is considered a big no no.

No regrets from doing it, sorts out any gremlins and has allowed me to overclock by 80% on stock volts and cooling :D

Only bother doing it if you'll gain anything from the extra features of the new BIOS.

right so do i need to download anything else apart from the ez flash thing onto a usb stick?
has anyone got a linky for it for my mobo?

never overclocked before either read the overclocking guide 4 times pritty confusing, when ive overclocked the CPU to its max, with regards to ram do i need the ratio to be 1:1 or do i leave it? etc
