Flashing BIOS

mob : Foxconn 6150K8MA-RS

Spec : 3700+
480W hiper type R
7800GT
1gb RAM
300gb Maxtor

reason: well ive been experience some crashes in POST screen with nothing responding, including CAPS lock and number lock, wont let me into BIOS and wont scan IDE channels. Ive contacted where i bought it from and they say to flash the BIOS to c if that helps if not they will offer a eplacement. So i was just gonna flash it to see if it fix the problem

Hmm well what version bios do you have at the moment?

when your pc boots it will tell you in the top left hand corner...

If when you get into the system you cannot access anything you cannot flash your bios because you will need to set the bios to either a) boot from cd or from your floppy drive (assuming you have one)

AFAIK thats not a good response from where you bought the computer...as it doesnt work its there prob tbh....I would insist they do it....flashing bios is not a straight forward thing for someone who has never done this before....take it back and tell them to sort it out......

ok after downloading and reading the BIOS flashing guide i m defo not going to do it myself lol. Anyways i restarted the PC to check my cureent version and i dunno where to find it!

i m guessint its the v6.00PG

But the Bios i downloaded says its version AFU 860 H , even the format is different....... so any1 kno wots going on

BIOS version is the 54xxxxx number. There are several versions of the 6150K8MA-xx motherboard, but it does have "54AW1P34" on the latest version for one of them.

If you don't have a clue about flashing, leave it alone. There's a PDF instructions in the zip files. Read them.

Can't find a fixed list.

i c, so in short i cant tell if mines already the most updated ... = /

I would probably think the last two digits should give you a idea -->greater number, updated firmware (19 against 34)

Flashing is at your own risk, I have no idea which BIOS is for your motherboard. Email foxconn and ask for a bug fix list for all revisions of the firmware for your board. Check the full model number.

Generally a motherboard should be stable during POST/dos screens, stock CPU and memory speeds- you shouldn't need updated BIOS. I would look at other reasons for instability- memory, PSU, CPU, etc. I've never had a unstable board and for only updated BIOS to fix stability issue.

And I would NEVER flash a BIOS on a unstable machine...risk of having a brick.

hi all, i dont ahve a clue on how to do this
Then don't. If you don't have to update, leave it alone. If you're having problems, look elsewhere first. The last thing we need is a post in here in a few days saying that you killed your motherboard and want to know how to get it back.

I'm not being funny. The BIOS really isn't something to be experimented with. You either do it right first time, or not at all.

thanks guys, after much complaining i m going to send the board back soon (btw this is not ocuk i m taking about). but as i m a very impatient person and it jsut so happens i had some spare case i ordered the Asus SLI SE from Ocuk , now even if anything goes wrong i know i got a good customer service
