I have to clear cmos in order to get my p.c to load up. I have tried everything and replaced the cmos battery. It all came about when i tried to overclock the cpu and not even by much. Im pretty sure its the motherboard and or bios. Is it easy to flash bios without being able to change my boot device!

I have an abit IP35 Pro motherboard. The bios is version 6 and im going to update to 18 which is the latest I could get.

I need to make my usb stick a bootable device and then put the new drives onto it. Then restart it and boot from usb. Think is I have to flash cmos in order to get my computer to start lol

no it boots fine but i have to flash cmos in order to do so. Even then it sometimes wont work.

I cant get it to boot from USB :(

is flashing cmos and clearing the same thing? I cant flash bios with usb because I have to cmos flash (which changes boot from usb back to my hard drive) :(

flashing cmos usually means to update the bios to a newer version. clearing the cmos just resets it back to its default settings, in effect getting rid of overclocks etc.

ok i think i might have confused people.

My computer will only start if i clear the cmos before hand and even then sometimes it doesn't work.
I am trying to flash the cmos but I cannot get my p.c to boot without a cmos clear thus changing the settings of my boot device from usb back to hard drive and preventing me from being able to flash cmos. Such a vicious circle :(
