Flashing motherboard

as mentioned above, clear the CMOS. I flashed a different bios verison and after that it wouldn't POST untill i cleared the CMOS

Did you get a chance to attemt a CMOS clear matey?

How did the bios update take place? Did it come up on the screen saying it was finished etc?

You might be able to connect a floppy disk to the system, with just a bios file on the floppy disk, then just see if the motherboard will attempt a bios recovery using that bios file...The gigabyte website doesn't seem to have a specific bios file for recovery usage like some other manufacturers.

Ive attempted a cmos clear yes, i used an old jumper to clear the cmos aswell as removing battery.

When the bios update finnished it said told me it completed successfully then attempted a reboot only to come back with the original problem only this time the old cpu wont work either.

If anyone has attempted a bios recover on a gigabyte board, it would be handy if they could post on how to do it exactly...As the websites motherboard page doesn't indicate on how to do it.

Normally, you would move/remove a jumper to enable bios recovery, then connect a floppy disk to the system with a previous "working" bios file on the disk, then let the system turn on, and leave it for a few minutes or so, and let it automatically flash the bios file to the one on the floppy disk.

But sadly as I stated previously there isn't a recovery bios on that page you linked...So I'll have to look into it a bit more, unelss someone else knows exactly how to do it on a Gigabyte board.

You could also try a CMOS clear, with the old cpu installed first, see if that makes a difference..But it might be doubtfull...just give the system a chance to boot, as it does take a while after a cmos clear sometimes.

yes it can easily recover BIOS by reflash older version - used floppy disc and enter Qflash into BIOS only if you cant boot up Windows fully - if boot up Windows then use @BIOS then reflash to go back as it can work again

2 or 3 years aso I flashed wrong version in K8NXP-9 and it went astray so I download early version then enter Qflash then reflashed again it bounced back and then reflashed new one that worked prefect -- it take it time to come back to normal it something like m/board being to be sick that was only once not many time

computer wont even post though.

Disconnect all power to the mobo, so 20/24 pin, 4/8 pin and 4 pin molex if that's plugged in. Then use a jumper to clear the CMOS, make sure the battery is in at this stage, wait 5-10 seconds and then remove the jumper. Then for good measure remove the battery for a few minutes. Then put it all back together but this time only plug in the 20/24 pin and see if it'll boot, then try with the 4/8 pin connected and lastly the 4 pin molex.

The above sounds a bit anal but it's roughly what I had to do to get around a continual restart/shutdown problem. Also make sure you've only got 1 ram stick installed.

Tried, no joy.

Only other thing I can think of is to disconnect the battery and PSU and leave it overnight and try again in the morning.

EDIT: Did you actually use the qflash method within the BIOS of some other method? I've only ever used the qflash method from within the bios.

Do you have a floppy drive?

If so, I'd try putting an older bios file on the floppy drive, then just let the system power on, and just leave it....Literally, it can take 5 minutes to sometimes do a bios recovery by letting the motherboard do all the work without you seeing anything on screen. It will hopefully just try and flash that file to the bios...

I don't know if your board supports that form of bios recovery though or not, but it's definetly worth a shot.

Normally theres a jumper to move on the board, but there doesn't seem to be one in your case for some reason.
