Use the EZFLASH program. Just make sure you get the right BIOS or your screwed.

Implications? bug fixes, cpu support, better stability? or the implications of it going wrong? i.e nothing booting up, lost functionality, toast if blind recovery dosen't work and its soldered onto the board so no hot flash or unstable system etc ? :D

Having just finished my new system, everything working perfectly, I had the brilliant idea to update the BIOS with the Asus Update utility in windows. BAD MISTAKE! BIOS gone, board had to be sent back :(

So do use EZ Flash, not Asus Update!

used a usb stick for the first time with my new board and it was easy as pie, ill defo use it this way again. No problems

why would any company solder a bios chip to the board, crazy :(
it's cheaper to manufacture.
I'm sure that Asus will say that with all the recovery options that a socketed solution is no longer necessary but the forums would tend to say otherwise ...

just plain crazy though.
