As per title (from perspective of individual flat owner with individual video/phone entry system inside), do these things tend to follow any standards (or operate in a very common way with respect to the door plate) etc.. or is each system specific to a certain manufacturer (thus any upgrade perhaps only being feasible via a newer models from the same manufacturer).

Secondary to this - is anyone aware of a model that can allow for remote access when not present in the flat? Obviously solutions are available for the front door of the flat itself but access to the block itself is controlled via the intercom system.

My old flat the intercom used to come threru to your mobile phone and you could open the door remotely from wherever you happen to be so it is available will need to contact the building owner before wastibg time researching it tbh

Cheers, so it is available that is useful to know - do you know what the brand name/company was on the unit you had by any chance? The building owner (freeholder) has nothing to do with it in this case, the residents manage the block - though I'd be interested to know whether this is feasible from the unit present in the apartments (i.e. can be upgraded to something with this feature unilaterally) or whether it requires a completely new system (new faceplate downstairs etc..etc..) in which case it is something for the management meeting and perhaps not something others might be interested in (not to mention there are several small blocks within the same management company and I think if there was an upgrade with regards to the system in general it would have to be part of a big upgrade to all blocks under that management company - would require asking contractors for bids, letting resident's submit suggestions for contractors within a 28 day period etc..etc..) - essentially if it is feasible via me just upgrading a handset within my flat then it is a lot simpler.
