I'm looking at getting some flat speakers to use in my dining room. They will sit on the wall next to a TV. I am looking at either a stereo amp to drive them or should it be required, 2.1 to encorporate a sub. I will be staying well away from anything 'all in one'.

I have been pointed in the direction of B&W VM4's. Is there anything else that I should look at around £600 ish max (just the speakers not sub inc). Budget is flexible should there be something great just above the range :)

The B&W are slim, but I wouldn't call them flat. If the overall depth of 4" is acceptable then I'd consider shortlisting the Monitor Audio Radius range too.

Monitor Audio Radius HD 225 - £500/pr - and 4 1/8" deep. These have better efficiency (90dB vs 88dB) and greater bass extension (55Hz vs 72Hz) or the Radius 250 (90dB, 50Hz) at £550/pr.

Interesting, yes the depth is fine. I was comparing them to the standard bookshelf speakers that get wall mounted.

I was thinking that I would have to get a sub with the B&W's due to the high cutoff on the low end. I shall see if I can get a demo of the Monitor Audio's, thanks :) . This isn't the main system and would only really handle TV and music while in the kitchen / dining room.

I have sold and installed quite a few of the various Radius range and never had clients disappointed with the sound. A demo though is a must just to see if they suit your needs and taste.
