Yeah so basically I set up a server and we can play for like 5 mins or something then it cuts off for me and says a network error has occured please check your connection? only happens when I make a server though?

are u playing over an actual lan or a virtual one over the net?

me and a friend use hamachi and we can play 2 player games all nite but if a 3rd joins 1 of us drops after bout 30 seconds.

u may want to try hamachi, its free. very useful program :) especialy if games are aquired using alternative methods.

yeh, i have a few problems playing online but im not patching because ive heard the new patch uses starforce.

enough people play on version 1 anyway and a few games is all i need really, gets a bit boring after that (or i do, same with any game for me though)

Nah, on the internet. But do you know how to turn off the contact timer as its only 2 of us playing? I'll check that program out.

Whats starforce?

Starforce is the copy protection "checking disk" window when you run the game. Controversial stuff and I would rather it wasn't there.

The new version is better - mainly because it actually has lobby chat. It also has manual transmission but I can't really see that working very well in Flatout 2. Also all the steam people will be on the latest version. It's kind of annoying that people on the old versions aren't forced to upgrade because it drastically reduces the number of games available for everybody.

And yes starforce has always been in the retail version. Only steam doesn't have it..

Lol, doesn't bother me m8 just get a no cd patch. My copy is legit but my games discs seem to break like what happened to BF2 constantly taking it out and in of the case.

Oh yeah so is there a way to remove the contact timer? like in the new patch?

I'm surprised you can get a no-cd for starforce tbh. At least on the latest version.

I haven't found any way to change settings like that offline but I haven't tried hosting...

Hmm if one doesn't work try making your own image with daemon tools and alcohol 120%.

I'm not actually looking for one because they're likely to cause problems like yours given the things starforce tends to do :p

Making a cd image doesn't work with starforce because it actually does strange things with the CD/DVD drive and looks at the physical properties of the disk (starforce disks are actually different from normal CD/DVDs so that they can be read by a normal player but starforce can still differentiate them) - hence some of the controversy as it has been known to break CD drives

Starforce suck then.

I hate the stupid insert disc crap and all this cd protection. If I insert the disc it scans over it with that protection crap then loads up, what bs.

I don't mind serial keys, they are fine but this stupid insert cd protection crap is bs and uneeded.

Can you register it on Steam? I'm not sure which games you can now there's so many, but if you can, that'll stop you needing the CDs.

m8, I can't even use Steam won't even let me connect and no one knows why so I have to use no cd patches.
