What a crappy experience, playing a painful waiting game and times outs, I was very lucky obtaining a 3080 strix from a competitors website but have no idea when it will be shipped out - it actually states expected shipment yesterday although unlikely as its not even been picked, ofc I did try my best to purchase from OC and got as far as clicking on payments then the dreaded time outs kicked in.

The fact is that robotics is making things easy for the scalpers but fleabay are not helping in any way (corporate greed), just yesterday they offered £1 fixed fee for item sales giving they scalpers more power to inflate their prices, taking a look this morning cards being listed for over £10K https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Palit-Ge...632738?hash=item289d78d1a2:g:wloAAOSwFkxfY9iC

it's easy to say simply don't buy a new gfx from fleabay paying over the odds thus fueling the scalpers but people still do. You could say more fool them but it's actually impacting the general consumers.

It's very unlikely fleabay will do anything like fix a sales max bid price to RRP. I guess the only way to try and prevent this is for internet retailers to try fool the bots with captcha or perhaps MFA SMS only.

otherwise the same is likely to happen for the 3090, 3070 and Navi and upcoming releases, disappointing times!

that card wasnt listed for over £10k, it was listed at £463 starting price, bidders then pushed the price over £10k, and i'l bet those bidders have no intention of paying that much

Your problem should be with nvidia hyping up a paper launch and with yourself for not being patient. How can you blame scalpers when there are fools that will pay over the odds.

Ebay itself is a joke now. It used to be good when it was a genuine 2nd hand goods selling site. Normal people selling on normal 2nd hand goods.

Now it is full of armchair reseller scum who dont even have the product they are selling.

Yep, one of the good folks at PCMR has created a counter-bot to inflate 3080 bid prices to the point of silliness. Good way to make things awkward for scalpers

While I do not disagree with your point and people are fool for buying things at inflated price, but it still doesn't change the fact that scalpers are scums with the classic case of "create a problem offer (sell) a solution".

Not blaming the scalpers, the scalpers are simply taking advantage of an ideal situation however it is impacting general consumers who may of wanted to buy a new card with good reason.
My post is more specifically about fleabay and prevention.

just saw one at £65000 with 52 bids.....the worlds gone mad

Ebay link removed

As posted above, it's a bot designed to hyperinflate the auction prices. The person selling that GPU will never get that money and it ruins their auction. That's what the bot is designed to do. I have zero issues with scalpers as long as they are not taking the ****. OCUK and other vendors price gouge even while your GPU is in the order process and you end up paying £50 more than when you put the car in your basket. But some individual decides to make a few hundred quid from desperate idiots, fair play to them.

It hasn't gone mad, they will be fake bids because they have no intention of paying.
They are bots, the guy doing it posted on Reddit about it.
Im pretty sure Ebay will attempt to take the fee even if a purchase does not occur, meaning someones going to have a 3K hole in their bank balance unless they cancel the bid outright.

Can't take what isn't there. (Well unless the highest bidder is really stupid and got either a large overdraft or their default card is a credit card.)

Im talking about the sellers. If you sell an item on ebay they will take a 10% final value fee and they do this straight away even if the seller is awaiting payment. If the item is cancelled after the fact then they return the fee but normally the following month.

So all these jacked up bids are going to cause some of these long standing sellers a bit of a headache unless they cancel them soon.

There is an upper fee limit unfortunately. :D
