Flexi pipe

I've noticed most of the mesh on the flexi pipe has come detached on my Polo, leaving the bit underneath exposed.

Is this a problem and how easy would it be to repair? I'm wondering if it would be straight forward to weld a new one in.

Depends how bad it is really, but unless there is an exhaust leak I really wouldn't bother.

Mine was the same if I recall correctly...

Is it just the outer mesh? The pipe is still sealed?

As far as I can tell it is still sealed. It's going in for its MOT next month so will get them to check.

Then I suspect it is fine... Is it a sort of fine chicken wire over the top of weaved metal? If so, and if it is just the chicken wire bit which has fallen apart, it wont matter...

Have a look to see if its a section that can be unbolted and changed, I found out on my fiesta that its all part of the manifold/cat so had to use a custom exhaust place to get it fixed!
