Flight cancelled due to inappropriate WiFi HotSpot

Yes, what exactly is the risk? Everyone has gone through security and been searched. Whilst this is in very poor taste, I don't see how this warrants cancellation of a flight.

Stuff does get through security though right?

oops didnt realise I was quoting such an old post.

Surely the fact it's just after the Manchester attack is irrelevant, they could have had it set up for ages and simply forgotten about it.

Not denying it was a stupid name to to use however!

Not sure whether coming forward in those circumstances would be the best thing to do TBH... Yes it could be fine, everyone would realise it was a laugh, end of story, conversely, you could find yourself at the centre of a witchhunt/on a terrorist watchlist for no real reason

Pilot should be fired, cabin crew disciplined and whoever called the police charged with wasting their time.

Utter twonks

You would have to be a special type of moron to give your wifi that name on the same day as the Manchester attack. Shame they didn't find the idiot and charge him for the delay.

Given the flight was from Mexico to London odds are its a very old name and the person simply forgot or it was an old joke

The pilot was more worried about upset passengers than a terrorist risk. What would have happened onboard if somebody discovered the hotspot midair? People are morons, somebody could flip out, find the first brown person on board and start laying into them.

The anounce mentioned "could the person with the innaproriate wifi hotpot name please change it. Was all that was needed.

Given that's actually what happened in the end too

I doubt it, nobody leaves a wifi hotspot permanently running on their phone. It was obviously a joke that backfired badly. At least nobody will do it again now.
