Flight check-in name

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I’m travelling to the Isle of Man next week and the person who has booked my flight has put my name on the passenger list as ‘Steve’ rather than ‘Stephen’. My passport says ‘Stephen’.

Does anyone think this will be an issue? I’m thinking not as surely this must happen all the time but I don’t know how perdantic check-in can be.

Thanks for any replies

We have had simikar threads before, some airlines seem to care more than others, with such an obvious contraction you will hopefully be okay.
Have you tried ringing the airline?

The airline have just called me back and have agreed to make the change. Thanks for all the comedic answers guys. Side splitting stuff ...

What did you expect, you didn't even give us the name of the airline.

I had this flying to America cost me £60 as the man on the phone was adamant alex was a totally different name to alexander!

Why did you put down a different name to what is on your passport? You're just asking for hassle. More so with flying to america considering how tight they have been with security since 9/11

Simple mistake it was one of our first holidays abroad and I just naturally stuck Alex in the name box as I do for everything else. Seemed insane that he insisted it was a totally different name and that they charged me £60 to change something on a computer two months before the flight that took them less then a minute!

I'd love to know how celebs get away with it as they are always booking flights in false names so they can avoid airport harassment!

fair enough. I agree about the "admin fees" some of them are just ridiculous, especially when its still months away from travelling.
