on using the 'request a seat' link on the BA site it informs me

Regrettably, we have reached our limit for pre-allocation of seats on this flight. Your seat will be allocated at time of check-in.

does this mean that there is a serious chance that we will be disseminated willy-nilly to random seats (three in our party) and may not get the opportunity to have seats together?, or do I still have a chance by attempting to do so via the online check in 24 hours before departure?
I`m guessing that their systems will return this message when the seat allocation pattern/s get to a stage where there are lots of single seats :(
Any experienced flyers may haev pertinent advice/info?

If it says they have run out of seats then I would believe it.

However, from experience [mostly parents] we have found that they will attempt to keep you together as much as possible.

This has resulted in us all being together sometimes [lucky], to being in pairs [usually what happens] to the occassional willy nilly-ness :D

they allocate approx 60% of seats for pre booking , if you get there early ( or web check in ) you should still be ok

sorry if i was a litle misleading, we do have the seats booked on the flight, but on accessing this option via their 'manage my booking' facility it gives us the message quoted :( , it DOES however let us request seats for the return leg, so I`m figuring the outbound leg may be scattered single seats , thanks for the reply
