Personally i tried the FSX with the 8600GT card and get about 30 fps, which should be almost on par with an 2600XT, if possible you should go for better GFX perhaps
the 2900 Pro 512 mb ?

Yeah. If money is a problem then drop the quad, get a 2160/2180 and a 2900Pro. There are new cards on the horizon though and should be with us within the next 3 weeks. If you can hold off then do so but if this is an imperative buy then the 2900Pro at the price it's at is the best bargain IMO.

A few points about your spec:

Id get the Gigabyte board isntead. The lower ABIT boards arn't very good. They dont share the good qualities of the Abit IP35 Pro and they have boot up problems even with the latest bios. The gigabyte is a good overclocking board for the price.

Get the turniq tower cooler for your cpu. it is a lot better and in my eyes is the bset cooler with it being only a few degrees behind the thermalright ultra and a lot cheaper.

Id get some artic silver with it, if your buying a good heat sink why use cheap paste?

Stay away from 2x2gb kits. Get 4x2gb. Its a lot cheaper and will overclock a lot better. Get 4gb of geil or ocz ram for 80-90 quid and they will both ovreclock to around 950mhz if required to so you can get the best out of your cpu, which will overclock to 3.5ghz on the turniq tower cooler.

Tagan psu's arn't very reliable. Spend more and get a better psu. Although with all the current issue with some people saying corsair arn't as reliable as they used to be. I think there has just been a bad batch of 520ws which will soon go down. id get a corsair 450w for what your powering.

The cheap oem sound cards arn't ment to be much cop. Spend taht bit more and get the gamer edition for a good sound. or just use onboard.

I would definately take great care in what processor you pick as FSX does rely heavily on pure CPU Power along with GFX Power.

For the sake of cutting costs, dont go for any of the 21xx CPU's as they will fall over with such a CPU intensive game.
