Am part of my local ATC Squadron and we have a rather old flight sim that am currently updating.
The PC is
AMD XP 2.2 GHZ
2GB DDR RAM
250W PSU
NVIDIA 5200 128mb AGP
we have a set of flight controls and a arvionces stack from elite hardwear

am woudering wot a gd up grade would be to run FS2004 with potential to look at FSX in the near future
we are geting some funding soon so will be running 2 19" tft monitors and possibly 2 more in the futre as well
how easy is it to transferre over our olod hard drive as it has all the data for our flight controls which will b a rite buggger to install on a new HDD as the company that makes it will want more money for a reinstall.
please can i have some surgestions!!!

Thank you

It's certainly possible to reuse the old hard drive, you just have to make sure that the new motherboard has the option (most do, but one or two only allow IDE cd/dvd drives)

A graphics card update will definately help, but you don't need to go overboard for FS2004 - FSX is much more demanding once you get onto the proper planes.

probbaly around the £400 to 500 mark
i want it to last for some time was thinking a a dual core would b gd
il build it myself unless a prebuilt is cheaper from some place
on the more than 2 screens front would a 4 output dvi card b a gd idea, assuming that the 4850x2 n 4870x2 will drop in price once the new range of cards r out

thanks

we r running FS 2004 currently and we had a ati 9800 pro until last week when i fried it(woops)
looking to get an ATI 1650 XT 512mb as it will run with current PSU
thats if we dont go 4 the complet rebuild as wasting money on an old agp single core seems silly

does fs 2004 benifit from more than 4gb of ram?

I added a case and second hdd, you can use a hdd cloning program to copy your old drive onto the new one, new hdd should decrease loading times

Great spec, but I'd get a 720 instead of 710 for only a tenner more, has a higher stock speed and soo much easier to over clock since its the black edition.

looks preety solid
wot bout the option for using 4 screen in the future, will cards lik the 4870x2 be droping in price more soon????
