I've got FS2004 and some free aircraft of POSKY as well as FSglobal a and Fscene for Europe. Quite happy with what I have, but I want to push it more and get better.

I have some questions:

1) I'm only interested in free aircraft addons, so could you recomend me some that you think are best?

2) Do you know which POSKY aircraft have a VC? I'm very interested in aircraft that has a VC but also very realistic look to it in terms of the external look

3) Do you know of any good scenery addons (free) for America or local add ons for the Manchester area/Cheshire?

4) When I fly an aircraft say a Boeing, and it's cruisng at 35,000 feet it doesn't seem level. I mean it flies but it seems to be sloaped at an angle and I would have thought it would have been fairy horizantal :/ I fly mostly with autopilot as I've not got a joystick yet. Is that what's meant to happen?

5) What's the best looking airport on FS2004?

6) Recomend any other free addons?

1) I did have a FS2004 thread here but it seems to have been deleted. :(

2) The POSKY A340 has a VC, but it isnt the most realistic i must say. Panning around can be very sluggish.

3) There are loads. Boston Logan V2 is probibly the best. Best thing is to search this years top downloads on avsim, or post on the fs2004.com forums.

4) Once you have set the autopilot to FL350, enable the autopilot and select ALT hold switch. This will then hold you off at 35000ft. Yeah its meant to happen as the world isn't flat ;)

One of my favourite freeware aircraft is Milton's, Scott's and Joáo's Howard 500. It's sublime in every way.

I'll get back to you with more later on today, after I've had some sleep. However, if you want to take FS2004 online, then click my signature and then the 'FSHost' link. Our server is fast, 100% free and is unlimited as to how many pilots can be online. Just enter netwings.org into the IP box of the multiplayer page in FS2004 and click search.

Query to Ozzie if you have any ideas. I've just read a post from a colleague of mine who has upgraded to a 7800GTX, 2gb DDR400 and AMD4400. For some reason, his frame rate is fluctuating between 2 and 40. He's put back in his 6800GT, but has the same problems. Assuming therefore it could be a mobo driver issue

This depends on a couple of things.

Let's say, for example, you're flying the 737-400 that comes with FS2004.

Firstly, what speed are you flying at? You should climb at between 280-300kts and transition to mach no. when the mach reaches .74, continuing the climb at .74, leveling off and, you've guessed it, cruising at .74

Being sure now that you're at the correct speed, the only other thing that will affect your angle (I'm presuming you mean how "nose-up" the aircraft is) is the weight and balance of the aircraft. If you go to FS2004's setting page that controls how much fuel you have on the aircraft, there is a picture showing the aircraft's centre of gravity - this will show you whether things are roughly where they should be. On the 737 you should burn all the fuel from the centre tank before using the fuel from the wings. With the default aircraft, this should happen automatically but if you've adjusted the fuel amount yourself, just make sure that you don't have any fuel in the centre tank unless the wing tanks are full.

Most of this is relevant to any of the Boeing aircraft that FS2004 has although for the 777 & 747 the mach no.s would be a little higher, something like .80 in the cruise. I'm also not familiar with the notoriously complicated fuel system on the 747 so I wouldn't know which tanks to burn the fuel from first but the idiot's guide to trim on the fuel page should again help you with that.

Having said all that, jets do cruise with a slight nose-up attitude, never with the nose on the horizon, so unless you're pointing up to the heavens, don't worry!

Any more uestions, feel free to ask... :)
