I watched Flight last night and I wanted to get everyone else's opinions on it.

I'm a massive Denzel fan and Zemeckis is obviously a legend, but the film didn't do anything for me. The first 20 minutes were great, and then it just lost itself from then on and came to a pretty lame conclusion. As an atheist the religious undertones just got a bit too much after a while as well.

The annoying thing is there were a few really awesome scenes throughout but I wouldn't recommend watching it. The thing is is it's got 7.4 on IMDB so I'm clearly missing something. I'd give it a 5.

That's assuming I'd rate Herbie a 5, which is average. A film like that is not average...

Girlfriend also made a good point in that it seemed like a mishmash of 'comedy' and drama. There were quite a few funny bits (him leaving the hotel room with aviators, relationship with Don Cheadle, plane inversion, John Goodman's character etc) but it was weird that they were spliced in between some pretty serious alcoholism drama. It felt like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be.

And as people have said the marketing for it was way off (and even the title of the film imo). Rightly or wrongly expectations do effect the final film and that's usually why I hate seeing trailers or reading reviews just in case.

. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A lot of the drunk scenes it was a bit "is this supposed to be funny or serious?"
