Following on from my thread about my decision to go travelling next year, i'm looking to find out where's the best place(s) and best time to purchase my flights?
If a mod feels the need, you can merge this with my other thread if you feel i didn't need to make this thread.

Also, what months do flights get cheaper and then the opposite. I've initially decided to go March, but i'm flexible, so if i can save quite a bit on flights i'm willing to change this month. Right now i'm looking at end of March, after 23rd..due to things going on, but like i said will change if i can save a bit. *edit* Forgot to mention my first destination will be Canada, and any other flights i'll do while travelling rather than before i go.

Also should have mentioned, what are the best places to purchase flights while im Canada/US ... Mainly use to fly over to OZ.

So any experts out there on this sort of thing?

Where are you going for a start?

Dialaflight were good for me when I went to Malaysia/ Thailand/ Singapore this summer.

Also like i said, i'll most likely book the rest while i'm over in the US, should work out cheaper i'd hope.

Gah It's late here in Madrid sorry :(

Yeah try Dialaflight. Also moneysupermarket has a screen scraper thing, there were cheap flights, but they were all with airlines changing in obscure cities and suchlike.

And yes internal US flights are cheap- especially with the weak dollar. Use Discovery (I think they are called) and Jet Blue- both are easyjet- style airlines.

Any idea about best time to buy my flight e.g. now / next year etc, for the initial flight to Canada, then on i'll sort it out over there for other destinations.

Flight prices can change all the time, so it's difficult to say if you are better booking now or waiting. I used Air Transat to fly to Canada last year, as they were the cheapest. Flyzoom are another one to check, I've seen a few people on these forums recommend them as a cheap airline from the UK to Canada.
