All of a sudden I'm getting adverts pops up and when I click a link on here to get onto this site and start new thread etc. I get a pop up after every click

I have spybot installed and Kapersky Internet protection, I've also ran ccleaner
cant get rid of them, any ideas?

ccleaner, adwcleaner, malwarebytes antimalware, hitman pro (trial) and if you still have issues then throw combofix at it - that sorts 95% of these issues for me on the systems I regularly see with popups etc.

ps - past experience tells me that spybot is now a waste of space, much like lavasoft ad-aware it was a tool I used to use a lot and recommend but now it just doesn't seem to do anything when I've tested the latest versions.

Ad Muncher. If it's not malware that's causing your problems, Ad Muncher not only blocks ads and pop-ups in your Browser but also in apps like utorrent too. I've been using it for as long as i've been using the Internet and swear by it. It's shareware but it's far from expensive.

Admuncher is almost useless now. No IE 11 support, no https support. Adblock Plus is better IMO and free.

I use both. Adblock is pretty useless for pop-ups whereas Ad Muncher is excellent at handling those. As always the best solution is a combination of things. And as i mentioned before, Ad Muncher works on more than just Browsers.

I have a lifetime Admuncher licence, haven't used it in over 18 months or so. I haven't had a single pop up using ADP on IE 11. Check cnet reviews and other forums to see how bad AM is on win 8. If you really want to pay for a ad blocker, Adguard is a better choice for most.

What's UAC ?

User Account Control (running and installing programs (running would be limited to specific programs) should bring up a UAC prompt, and if you have this disabled then anything can get installed without your knowledge).

Also, do you have flash and java installed and are they fully updated.

oh yeah I have full control , as in, I get prompted when I'm about to install something

Flash and java , erm yes I'm pretty sure I do, defiantly got adobe flash, and its updated

I tried MalwareBytes Free today, and it found about 20 and I think it deleted them ok, computer seems ok at the moment..

If it's IE, do a restore IE to default.

Quicker than messing about.

Winkey + R,

inetcpl.cpl

Press enter.

Go to 'Advanced' tab, click 'Reset'

-

Tick Personal Settings too..

This will reset IE to a fresh install state, passwords will be lost etc.

Persoanlly, I'd ditch IE and use Firefox or Chrome with Adblock Plus installed, a far better browsing experience.

+1 for Adblock on Chrome

Also, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is good, but didn't that change from free to paid recently? Can't remember. But, I also use SuperAntiSpyware which has helped me out a few times. Great free software :)
