I have a client asking for some floating prints from a job I did last month, however up until she asked I hadn't even seen them before! Where can I order them from? A quick Google search has revealed quite a few places but I've never used any of the companies and I'm wary of ordering something poor for a customer, so I'm hoping someone here will have experience of a company that offers them?

I know that loxley colour do them. Never used them before though but know that most of their stuff is of really good quality.

One of our suppliers for our studio is Tony at acornframes.com pretty sure he will do things like this and will be a lot cheaper than most online places I'd have thought. He used to supplier a rather large well known high street photography studio ;)

I am going to be INCREDIBLY ignorant here. But what's a floating print? It looks like they just stick the picture onto a piece of card by way of some paper hinges?

Your print is printed/stuck on a thicker piece of card. And then that is further mounted on another piece (about half an inch) off the back print. And then the whole thing is framed. From outside the glass the print looks like it is floating between the back and set back from the glass. Hence floating.

I have a print like this at home, massive frame, I asked my local bespoke framer and it would be a £150 to £200 job for something like mine (size of a 40" LCD) to get it done. This does not include the original print onto the card in the first place.
