So, i am in Australia, land of the sun? well it seems i have brought my world famous bad luck with me, i parked up the impreza in a seemingly good spot, wasnt under a tree, was well light, excellent!

I was on the way to work and i noticed a small puddle forming behind the back of the car, maybe 2 inches of water, didn't think much of it..

just got back from dinner and a movie (Animal Kingdom, was pretty good actually) anyway the back of the car is in like 3 ft of water and the rear foot wells are full up to the bottom of the seat :(

i jumped in the car and moved it to a dry spot and assessed the situation, the boot looked ok but under the carpet was a mud swamp and in the spare wheel looked like a compost heap.

In the rear of the car was a empty cookie container gently bobbing up and down in some brown water.

I have since bailed out most of the water and taken a seat out (its midnight didnt want to get too involved) and the car smells like a puddle.

What is the best method? leaving the car with heater on and hoping it will work or take all the interior out and replace carpet/make sure its dry? worst part is its for sale and there is a viewing tomorrow!

Dehumidifier inside the car for a few days followed by one almighty clean up. You won't get it to a presentable state within a day.

Can't imagine it being dry and looking its best in time in either method unfortunately. Would have thought stripping it was best to make sure everything is dry but not had to deal with such damage myself.

Unfortunately the water contained a lot of mud from the rain water running through the park behind the parking spot.

Well I think it's fair to say you need to put off that viewing tomorrow. Take some pics in the morning so people can see what the damage is like, sounds pretty bad if you've got rubbish floating in there. Are you sure you didn't leave a window open or something?

heh the cookie tub was from me nomming soem cookies after the weekly shop last weekend. i will cancel viewing tomorrow and see how i get on with my one adjustable wrench and a butter knife (all i have!!)

silver lining is though found 6 bucks under the seat!!
