Just wondering if anyone here lives next to a river and is concerned at the moment?

Mainly north west related but I live next to the Irwell just after a confluence of 2 rivers.

The river is currently at the highest level anyone around here has seen and the highest in over a decade.

It shows no sign of slowing and rose about 3 feet in the last few hours, ended up coming home early when I got the text from the environment agency.

Just uploading a video now.

I made sure I got an apartment on the third floor so material wise I'll be fine, just need to make sure I keep an eye out if I need to move the car :)

Probably doesn't look like it's about to burst the bank, but it's usually 4 meters lower, and now there's probably about 1 meter from the path to the river so got a bit of a window but the ground can't hold any more water around here, so any rain and groundwater flow will simply be filling the river up more and more.

Sat here in Rochdale looking out the window at the river Roch that's very close to overflowing and flooding the college and ASDA store near it.

Heard it's pretty bad up there! More rain forecast for tomorrow as well I hear.

The road leading down to the river was itself a river this evening, the entire valley side is saturated, not that all the built up areas help.

Keep us updated with minute by minute pics and some videos if it does start to flood :p I love seeing it happen

Hehe, you and me both! Downside is it's now dark and everyone knows natural disasters always happen at night!

I'll be getting up early to check out the river level, we're expecting heavy rain till about 3am.

Could be a good marketing idea that, release hundreds of OcUK mugs into the river, take video of them, post on youtube, profit.
