Could someone recommend me a pair of floor standing speakers to replace my Cambridge audio large bookshelf speakers I am currently using. Ideally I don't want to be spending more than £400 so I hope I am not limiting my options for this price range.
Before a good decision can be made think of a few options:
What sort of music do you listen to
What is the room like (size/upstairs or downstairs/hard floor or carpeted)
What amplifier will be powering the speakers
Would be worthwhile if possible trying various different speakers, most decent places selling hi-if will let you try before you buy. From my experience over the last 20 or so years of being into hi-fi is that so much can effect the type of sound being produced. I have to say some of the best speakers I had (albeit around 15 years ago) were some cheap Wharfedale S500 speakers that only cost me about £50.
