Floppy Disk light on All the time!

Hi All

Just built new PC and it fired up first time! But, the floppy drive stays on all the time and won't read floppies.

I have reversed connection etc. but no joy so any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

I am trying to use Samsung disk manager (only appears to work from floppy) to partition my HD501LJ HDD before installing WinXP.

Not installed XP before so not sure if you get an option to partition before installation. Can anyone advise on this.

The data cable IS the wrong way around, try reversing it again.

Red line on the ribbon cable should be closest to the power connectors on the FDD. Make sure its the correct way round in the mobo too (red line being pin 1).

XP setup does let you partition within setup however.

Thanks for that paradigm.

I will try again (including another cable).

Can't believe it fired up first time and I'm having floppy drive problems.

Nice to know WinXP install offers a partition option.
