Building a new rig, SATA HDD / 8800gtx / conroe 6420 / 2gb 667 ram / MOBO : Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard / WinXP (maybe service pack1 ed) and sata dvdrom/rw

I don't have any floppy drives around the house that work anymore, plus I didn't see any sold on Overclocker's, but is it necessary for that mobo/hdd/dvdrom combo to install SATA drivers ? Or does my mobo contain that fine ?

Really unfamiliar with this, thanks... I even had it in my mind that DVD-RW's aren't able to play CD/dvd's and that they can only burn, but that's not true haha..*nervous laugh*

I think if your XP cd has SP2 built-in you should be OK. Or you can nLite your XP cd, put SP2 on that and also your SATA drivers for your new rig.

Ah they do have them:) Never thought to use search button hehe.

Sounding a bit Scrooge like, but I didn't fancy buying a floppy when I'l only use it once in my life time, so I'm just looking to make sure i definately need one.
My xp cd is at service pack 1 I think, definately not SP2, so that rules out that option.
Asus p5n-e sli nforce 650, i'l do some more research and see if that definately does or does not cover SATA drivers during the XP install on a fresh system.
Cheers
