Floppy seek failure? Help please

Hi,

After this:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=22705366#post22705366

If you didn't read that, we basically rebuilt the PC as it needed properly dusting and a new PSU

Now we get a floppy seek failure message and on boot, if we have ress F1 like it says it boots fine

What could be causing this? We've tried re-seating the cable in the card reader and at the motherboard end

Any ideas?

Uhm, im not an expert but has the bios got the floppy drive set as the boot drive? I'd check that first.

Cheers

Wdc is a hard drive or a cd drive?

If cd drive then it's trying to boot from cd first, then floppy (your problem) then sata hdd.

Put sata hdd before floppy.

If its a hdd, that's weird.

The SATA HDD says not present though, so I assumed WDC must be Western Digital Caviar? Haha

Will check and see, how would these settings have changed in the first place though? Thanks

cant you turn floppy drive off in bios ?

I will look and see, there isn't actually a floppy drive, only a card reader, think it might be recognising it as a floppy drive? They don't have a memory card to test it with either

Thanks all,

I went with chippy's idea and disabled floppy drive in the bios. It worked

First I just tried to disable it in device manager but that didn't work... So I tried disabling it in the bios and this worked and also removed it from the device manager list
