First of Happy New Year! (my 1st post of 2009)

Now then, christmas is over and theres only one large up and coming event now on my callender... My Wedding!!!

The wedding part is mostly sorted and whats left the misses is sorting my job is the important one... The Honeymoon :D!!!

Simple version is that we're off to Orlando Florida, stopping at a hotel in the universal studios area on International Drive, Car Hire included etc... only thing i need now will be a SatNav and Tickets for the parks etc...

This is where the thread comes in, ive been browsing around and the main one seems to be http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/ and from what we are planning to do we need the Disney 14 day pass and the Orlando Flexticket which comes to a not too bad £796 for the two of us. But for those with experience of this: is there cheaper places to purchase the tickets? would it be cheaper to get these prior to the honeymoon? or would it work out easier/cheaper to purchase them once we're out there?

cheers guys/gals

Gary

Try here - http://www.orlando-ticket-deals.co.uk/ - although I have noticed while planning for going back to Orlando in 2010, the travel brochures seem to be offering better deals. Get the tickets before you go as it's a cheaper deal and do not be fooled by the guys on I-Drive offering cheap entry to all parks.

As far as the water parks go, avoid Wet'n'Wild as I found it to be dirty compared to the other parks. Take advantage of your Disney ticket and spend each morning relaxing at either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.

cheers eddiemcgarrigle, its not much but cheers im now £16 lower then the original price so it all counts.

also your not the first to tell me Wet'n'Wild is one of the parks to avoid. im also one not to buy things off the street, wether it be tickets or sunglasses, and im expecting florida to be similar to most holiday resorts with gangs of people selling you 'cheap' (aka crap) merchandise

You got to book a 1 night stay in Clearwater(make it a sat night)
doing the sunset party on the pier is a must ;)

The beach is great and the food is even better.
Then the next day goto USA Fleamarket on US 19 Just South of US 52
about 4 miles from clearwater.

There you will get cheap clothing and I mean cheap.

Don't forget you will need to do the ESTA form online as the green card form will no longer be available on the plane. EVERYONE must get one done online.

I went to Wet'n'Wild in Feb, it was deserted, I could go on any ride with no queues.

Was great that day. But I would agree its a bit of a hole.

You really don't need Sat Nav in Florida, you would have to be stupid not to follow the maps.

ive looked around and from what i can gather it will be either a 767 or an Airbus A330 that we will fly out in. (flying out from gatwick with thomas cook)

does anyone have any info on these with what you get on the seats? and what is/isnt alloud main reason being is were planning on taking a DS & a PSP to keep us entertained but power is obviously an issue and if were actually alloud these onboard.

Edit, slight change of plan too, weve dropped the car after being told ill get a young driver charge of $25 a day on to of the £320 the car was costing originally so most of the movement will be by the i trolly or by coaches to and from the locations were going to.

cheers

How old are you?

I was 27 when I went over and found Disney way too childish, if I were you I wouldn't buy a 14 day pass and get a 3 or 5 day one instead and use the change elsewhere.

You wont have any problems with the PSP etc on the plane.

Most places can be reached by using the idrive trolley but get a weekly ticket as it works out cheaper. I am assuming that your at the north of idrive so theres plenty of things to do within walking distance.

If you are going to Disney get the trolley to Seaworld and get the bus to Disney - it was $2.60 per person each way last time and a taxi will set you back about $20.

I'm sure I used these guy's when I went to Orlando and they had a price matching going on. Get a few quotes then see what you can acheive by phoning them up.

Agreed. I went with my teenage daughter and she wasn't interested in the Disney theme parks TBH except for certain white knuckle rides :D

ill be 24 at the time and themisses flys out on her 21st birthday. The misses is a BIG disney freak and loves the whole people in costumes crap, the main reason for the 14 day pass is so we dont have to rush anything and dont have to use them within the 3-5 days as we generally dont plan things we just go where we fancy. (also id expect on the last day to get a "oh lets spend one last day in disney" request)

personally im more in it for the rides and waterparks the disney thing isnt an interest to me as i know its a man/woman in a suit.

just done a quote for a smaller car and the quote is still £400ish o i think we'll leave it and if we need one for a day or 2 we'll just get one then

cheers for all the help guys
