Oh, I've been wondering about these things. I had a few questions I was wanting to ask anyone with a close up filter. Sorry for hijacking your thread for a bit, but I was wondering if the filter itself zooms in, or does it just enable you to get closer to your subject? I'm planning on buying some filters soon, and a close-up filter was on my list. I'm sure I had another question as well, but I've forgotten it. :p

The pics are well composed, but your depth of field looks a little haphazard, particularly in the last one. If the bit of the branch closer to the camera had been on focus, I think this would have been a much better shot. As it is, it's a little distracting, imo. Same goes for the other two as well, but to a lesser extent. With a little more of the objects in focus though, I think they'd be great. I particularly like the first one, the colours are really nice. :)

Thanks, I'll give it another go at some point...

The filter just magnifies everything afaik so you don't have to get as close and you can focus with more of the subject in the frame.

So it would be possible to take long distance shots with both the camera's built in optical zoom, and a close-up filter to get mega-zoom?

Again, sorry for the thread hijack. :o

Doesn't work like that unfortunately, you would need a telephoto lens afaik (you can get them for the s5600)

Meh, would've been fun. I knew you could get wide angle lenses, but telephoto is something new...I'll have a hunt around. :)
