Fluctuating Idle

I've been running a Seat Ibiza TDi 1.9 for the past 18 months or so. I bought the car brand new, it's an 09 plate, and so far I've had no troblems.

Started the car up this morning for the first time since Friday evening, the revs at idle were fluctuating at around 1,500 to 2,000 (it usually idles at just under 1,000). Turned the ignition off, re-started it, still the same. Drove down the road for a bit, carried on doing it and obviously felt strange to drive. After 5 or so minutes of driving, it appeared to settle down to it's usual idle rate so I carried on with my 20 mile / 30 minute commute to work. However, it still wasn't 100%, noticed the revs fluctuating slightly while sitting in traffic out of gear.

Any idea what might causing this? It's still under warranty with Seat.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, that's all. It's good to have an idea of what the problem is, rather getting fobbed off by the dealers.

Whats to get fobbed off over though? You take the car in, and if when you return it has been fixed you drive away happy :)

This happens to me when I start the car in the morning. The revs are at around 1.5k. Once I've been driving for a few minutes it goes back to normal. It's fine after that.

That sounds like normal cold engine fast idle, not what the OP is describing at all.

No, air con wasn't on.

It was as though the accelerator peddle was stuck down ever so slightly, just enough to make the revs go to 1,500 - 2,000? I'm not saying it's that, all seems fine with the peddle mechanism itself, but that's what it felt like.

Guess I'll have to get it booked into Seat.
