Recently had an upgrade, and my speeds are very inconsistent.

I've also done tests on my laptop which have given similar results, the 12 and 11mb results were during bandwith cap, but the rest have just been my net being sucky.

We are promised 60mb/s and if they decided to give us 10-30 then I think I'll be having words.

Is this normal though? A friend of mine said it is to be expected so shortly after upgrade.

ISP is Virgin Media, not sure if I've changed lines, went from 10mb/s to 60mb/s, had to change the HUB but that was it, I think we were on a fibre optic before hand and still are, so it doesn't explain the recent upgrade theory.

Thanks!

Just took this, there is no reason for us to be capped at the moment, I haven't downloaded a thing, I'd be very shocked if I have gone over 1GB bandwith today, let alone the promised 10 before capping!

I have the same issues in the south with the same ISP VM! I think the issue is the service is oversubscribed, or that's what the last engineer that I had out advised me! should be fixed sometime but no estimated date as of yet! :(

I've got the exact same issue with VM. When I had 100mb it would literally vary between 100 and 1mb. Totally disgusting.

In the end I've gone back down to 30MB as the service was so inconsistent, at least I don't pay any more for the trash service now.

I won't lie, I've been a huge VM backer, but the last 2 months have been incredible for both lack of service and incompetance within the company.

Come September I'll have FTTC with someone.

You aren't guaranteed 60Mb/s. It's probably congestion. Create a broadband quality monitor. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

We are, the package is 60mb/s and we were told multiple times that's what we will be having, if that's not a guarantee I don't know what is. Another test has shown 20mb/s.

Apparently they are going to fix it? They better anyway. What is a FTTC?
