Hi, I haven't purchased any deionized water yet, but I am currently mounting my radiator. Before doing so, is it ok to flush the rad with normal tap water?

Cheers
Adam

I know that’s what’s preferred, but I’m asking if it’s ok to flush with tap water instead.

Thanks

It's fine to flush the rad with tap water, but you might want to get hold of some deionised/distilled water to do a final flush of the rad :)

Make sure that the water is hot, but not boiling. No need to use vinegar anymore as the flux is now soluble in water.

It'll dissolve faster in vinegar I imagine, but then brass is probably soluble in vinegar (to some extent) too.

Hot tap water then deionised will be fine if you're in a soft water area, not as good a plan if you're in a hard water area. It'll still work though, and boiled hard water doesn't have that much more limescale to give up.

I tend to connect a hot tap to one of the radiator inlets and wander off for a bit, but that's not brilliant in terms of energy efficiency.
