Has anyone flown Aeroflot recently? I've heard they've got a lot better recently, and as I'll only be transferring through the new section of Moscow airport it's much easier/better/cleaner now?

Choice is Cathay Pacific at £900 or Aeroflot at £780

Flying from Korea to LHR right slap bang in the middle of the Olympics and retuning a month later. Pricey times :(

The money saved would help fund car hire + Fuel around Europe+UK and is quite a bit when I'm going to be buying two tickets!

What's Sheremetyevo like? I've only ever used Domodedovo, and it's a horrible place.

Haven't used the airline myself, but my father used them occasionally and said that they were fine. Though, he was used to the **** that is Air France.

Should be free booze and snacks on Aeroflot right? Just have a few of them, and then it doesn't matter who you're flying with!

I flew with Aeroflot about 20 months ago - Mongolia > Moscow, and then Moscow > Heathrow

Obviously safe and I arrived alive, but the flight itself was cramped and uncomfortable. Worst part - absolutely NO entertainment for the entire flight. No individual screens, no group screens either. Just one at the far end with a map on!

I can't remember having free booze with aeroflot, just terrible meal

For the sake of £120 just fly Cathay. Aeroflot are not good. None of the Russian or CIS carriers are any good, and I have flown with many.
I usually fly Cathay as my first choice anyway when I go to Asia.

I think I'd pay an £120 extra just to not **** myself for the entire flight that the pilot is flying with one hand on the stick and another on a bottle of Stoilichnaya.

What's CIS?

It's only a little bit more to guarantee safety+comfort (ish) Just wanted to double check I wasn't being a complete numptee by discounting them completely.

Just that stopovers aren't that bad (4 hours in Moscow each way) and the planes should be *newish* at a guess? For the money and all.

I think I'll go Cathay though ;) Not feeling that adventurous having the wife in tow, if if was just me then fine :)

Commonwealth of Independent States. A loose union of former Soviet states, such as Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan etc.

I'd personally pay the extra to fly Cathay Pacific. I flew with them from Incheon to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Amsterdam, and they were excellent all round. Great entertainment with individual seat back screens and really good food.

Oh, and if you're passing through Incheon, try the Bulgogi in the food court, it's excellent. :D

Aha, thought it might be some Communist Independinternalblah... State type meaning! Close enough!

Living in SK I get access to Bulgogi and any other type of awesome dinner all the time :) What I don't get are fish and chips, Boots meal deal sandwiches, Hula Hoops etc, but that will change come summer! (for a month!)

I've gone on other Asian route with Cathay quite a bit, I like the seats they have that don't recline but slide down, don't feel bad for the people sitting behind then! And yeah, good service!

when i see flying aeroflot i keep thinking somones thrown that huge jelly fish out th back of a plane.

FYI when you stop in Moscow you get put in a transfer room and can't leave. Its rubbish. Vending machines and 1 shop IIRC.
