Flying ant invasion

Apparently there were so many flying ants off the South coast of the UK it showed up on the radar as rain: https://news.sky.com/story/radars-d...-of-flying-ants-near-uks-south-coast-12917527

I'm hoping Rishi will step forward and pledge to stop the flying ants coming here and send them to Rwanda.

Are they great British spitfire ants or nasty immigrant ants.

Hate flying ants personally.
Well all ants, but particularly flying ants.

They are really interesting bugs tbh but a real PITA as an allotmenter.
How they manage to farm aphids on some of my plants, lining them all up in neat rows is quite amazing.

Wasn't there a screensaver umpteen years ago, where a ant walks onto the screen and start munching away at it. More ants followed and just devoured the screen.

good podcast last week on bbc - brian cox incredible monkey cage about bees and wasps with entomologists playing one upmanship on most nasty behaviours - zombie wasps
the comment that bees only have enough energy for 10minutes flying, before refuelling, was the most interesting - and I though ev's had range problems

Cambs it's just thunderfly season.
