In the last few days there have been a horrendously high number of flying ants around, literally they just keep emerging in a constant stream from the nest and then they form a massive cluster. Several have flown into the house and they immediately bite us and the dogs, they have swolen up on my arms worse than mosquito bites.

Should I just put up with it or get nasty with some ant killing stuff? Don't want to anger them any more...

As cruel as it is, boil a kettle and pour it over the nest a few times a day. Not only will it bugger there nest up but it will kill a few too

This may seem a little harsh but i think you should ask yourself, do i really need the help of people on the internet for such a simple task as killing ants, if the answer is yes, then dont leave the house without assistance. The world is far to dangerous for the likes of yourself.

Just stick some boiling water down the hole.

A few years ago (well more like 10/12 ish) we were camping in a field in a farm, and at one point, a huge number of flying ants all landed on our tent, and I remember my dad and the farmer scraping the ants off of the tent with spoons and loading them into jam jars lol :p.

LOL :D
this is true m8. You could try just whacking them with the paper, phone etc (whatever is nearest) (just dont whack them with somthing important like your laptop or baby, if you have one) :D :D

Get some WD-40 and spray the nest down with it. The advantage of this is that it will cut off all air from the nest, suffocating them all in the process. It will also coat thier wings so they cannot fly until they die.

If you're particularly cruel (and live where nobody will call the fire brigade on you) you can introduce a flame to the spray and "kill them with fire".......

Most household spray cleaners (such as Windex) are quite effective at killing insects, too.
