Never flown before, never left the country, but on 31st July i'm Flying from Manchester to Crete and i'm already starting to feel nervous about flying and its still over 40 days away.

I always disliked the idea of flying, and been a bit scared by it.

Anyone got any tips to make the flight any easier because i can see it now, i'm going to be absolutely ******** myself before i get on and when it takes off  .

Your GP will give you Diazepam in some form if you ask nicely for it, that's the only advice you need.

Meh, you'll live.

Did you know, at 600 miles an hour a bird could quite easily rip a hole in the fuselage of a modern plane.

There's not really much advice to give... it's just flying from one place to another. Get on, wait a few hours, get off. Simple as that.

I'm not too comfortable taking off/landing part of the flight - I'm fine once we're in the air so I always make sure I have an engrossing book to read. Keeps my mind of the flying and means I tire myself out on longer flights so I can fall asleep.

Most air liners don't travel at 600mph, and there aren't any birds at cruising altitude.

;) :p

I don't like flying either, its just something you gotta do tho if you wanna go on holiday. Once on board, just watch the stewardesses faces - if they look worried then you're allowed to be worried, but they won't look worried :)

I was trying to scare him

Anyway the one I was on often hit 580 according to the readout we had on our screens.

Flying is perfectly safe, there's nothing to get worried about at all. :)

Crashing, however, is a different matter altogether......................!

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Thinking rationally, nothing at all really.

But thinking about it still makes me feel ill :(

I can see me spending my wait in the airport sat on the toilet :D

I'd be more scared of being on a plane full of people from Manchester then flying :D

yes a couple of these washed down with a few stellas should take the edge off the 4 hour flight ;)

If you are afraid of flying book yourself a skydiving course.

Lol

Also it's expected with current trends that in the next 15 years atleast 8 aircraft will be lost through fuel tank explosions.

I hate flying too, as neccesary evil to get on holiday :)

When I first flew it was in a Dehaviland erm something at Duxford, was awesome. Nothing to be worried about, but Jet airliners are quite loud when they accelerate to take off - you *might* be a litte bit suprised by that. Turbulence is a bit weird at first as you'll feel as if you're dropping and rising randomly but you will get used it to.
