Over land and sea.
I've got a flying lesson booked for Sunday (weather permitting) in a 4 seater fixed wing, that's probably a plane I guess.
2 take offs & landings (hopefully) and an hours flight. Does anyone know if I'll actually get a chance to steer it myself (not loop-da-loops obviously, although that'd be cool) or will I just get told stuff.
It's a present that's been booked for me, I've just been told to turn up with ID, so I know little about it:)
Just so you know, in the interest of safety there will be no snakes or Muslims on my plane;)

If appears the wings aren't that fixed, they've fallen off.

i'm currently taking flying lessons.

It would be a pretty boring if you didn't get to fly the plane yourself so I am sure you will.

On my first lesson i had control right before we landed, i guess he didn't trust a 15 year old landing a plane after 40 mins experience :D

I had flying lessons between the ages of 2 to 6.

It involved my parents holding my hands, lifting me up, and saying "1, 2, 3 . . . wheeeeee . . ."

I imagine that it's different for kids, these days, and involves ipods, myspace, drugs and dressing as girls.

Cool, I'm not sure if I want to carry it on, so will they just let me enjoy the day or are they likely to tell me stuff I probably don't need to know? Safety checks & the like:)

Impress the Skipper by calling the steering wheel a 'yoke', that should get you a shot.

What airfield will you be at? Just so I know the fields in which I should burn insults with weed killer. :D

i had 1 lesson with the RAF cadets ages ago and i got to control the plane but couldn't land obviously!!

you will get to control it or get your money back (well the person who booked it for you)

I shall be flying due North from a posh place in Buckinghamshire called Denham, then crap spraying over the slummier parts of West Midlands, as Southerners do.
Won't be venturing in to the Cold Lands past Gretna though as there's really no point:)

Sounds like you'll be going up in a Piper PA28 Warrior 161 which is the usual flying school workhorse. Where are you flying from?

If you have a decent instructor you will get a shot at flying the aircraft yourself. The instructor will most likely take care of the departure and landing and the rest inbetween will be all in your hands, providing nothing non-standard happens of course.

It'll be a lot to take in at first but don't get overwhelmed by it, just make sure you enjoy it. You'll most likely get told to look out the window rather than at the instruments as most n00bs keep their eyes fixed on the instrument panel which is bad :D

Have fun, let us know how it goes :D
