Just booked our holiday to Turkey flying on the 10th September for 1 week to Bodrum all inclusive :D

Now i have just checked my passport and noticed that it expires in January 2011 :eek::eek: Ihave heard some bad stories about countries refusing entry due to the 6 month expiration rule on passport. Would this cause a problem? Either way i plan to visit the post office today to fill in a renewal form and get this sent off by tomorrow.

Anyone know how long it takes for a passport to be sent back?

Thanks

I would say YES.

Only reason, I too am due to go to Marrakech soon, exactly same thing about the 6month on your passport and my old one was due to expire in September 2010.

Rang the airline and embassy who said that Morocco would definitely refuse me.

Fortunately, the Passport Office is only a few stops from me at Victoria, so went at 9am one morning and picked up my passport at 16:00 same day (bit more expensive but at least I could book my tickets with my passport number knowing there wouldn't be a problem).

Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

You would be silly to risk it.

Chances are you would be fine, as aslong as they get their £10 at Bodrum airport per person, they dont care.

But personally I would get your passport replaced.

You can do this pretty quickly if you use the Post Office's check and send service.

They will confirm that the form is a-ok and send it recorded delivery for you, I used this method and had my passport back within a week.

You might get lucky, but I would imagine you're more likely to be unlucky and get refused. Also if your tour operator is anything like mine (fly out to Turkey in 2 weeks) you have to give your passport details in advance now, so it might get flagged up then anyway.

You have a good month or so to get your passport renewed, no point in risking it tbh as you'll only have to do it when you get back.

And don't forget...

If you DO change your passport, the Passport number will be different and you must inform your airline as the tickets reserved will not match your new passport number.
